Sarah on theater

What I'm seeing lately!

Maria, a free-spirited postulant who proves ill-suited for the abbey, is sent off to serve as the governess to the seven mischievous children of the strict, widowed Captain Georg von Trapp. As World War II looms on the horizon, Maria brings joy, laughter, and music back into their home.

This seems quite likely to eventually park for a Broadway run in the vein of The Wiz/Mamma Mia/Beaches/etc given the caliber of creative involved, the expensive traditional sets, and the fact that Cayleigh Capaldi absolutely smokes this score. Fun hybrid of the original stage orchestrations but keyed up from mezzo to Julie Andrews’s soprano. It’s such an old-fashioned show in so many ways but seeing her with the children really is a delight
