What I'm seeing lately!

When a cheerfully dutiful receptionist at a mysteriously generic corporate office spends her morning brewing coffee, managing personal calls, and advising a lovesick coworker, the arrival of a charming representative from the central office threatens to disrupt her comfortable routine.

Katie Finneran keeps the show afloat as the titular receptionist with one hilarious line read after another. The pairwise chemistry among the four actors is strong all over. Plotwise, hmm. The vagueness of the office’s business feels charming at the top—an absurd abstraction of capital-B Business gently wrapped around something-or-other about the intimacy of shared mundanity. By the end, when the play takes a darker, paranoid turn, it feels frustratingly unspecific and consequently not all that incisive.
