When Tally, a down-and-out aspiring actress and gig worker, returns to her rural South Carolina hometown to help her father, she turns to online dating and swipes right on David—a divorced, disgraced former high school teacher fresh out of an ankle bracelet.
I didn’t mind it. A few clunky lines aside, I thought our two leads were both pretty interesting and it was mostly an enjoyable watch. Went w/ new friend from the Broadway chat at work. If you’re reading this, hi! I hope we see something else soon.
There are definitely too many “actually, I was ___ the whole time” reveals near the end that muddied up my perception of what story they were trying to tell, but thematically it mostly sticks the landing: the thorny interplay of shame, sex, loneliness, & human needs. You know, lighthearted stuff. 👍
