Summary
Set in the downtrodden neighborhood of Skid Row, this sci-fi musical horror comedy follows meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who discovers a mysterious, exotic, bloodthirsty plant he names “Audrey II.”

Show’s still a blast, but the leads’ dynamic here is pretty reminiscent of Nick Jonas getting blown out by Adrienne Warren in Last Five Years. Joshua Bassett’s Seymour is a significantly weak link - he’s in duets the whole way, highlighting a thin voice relative to the musical theater vets in the cast. Joy Woods in typically excellent form, funny, lively, tears rolling off her cheeks (and audience members’ as well) during “Somewhere That’s Green”. Andrew Durand’s brand of physical comedy is a very natural fit for Orin Scrivello et al; love him.
