Nice little play that absolutely isn’t beating the “better suited to off-Broadway” allegations. Theater very empty for day 4; this is a financial bomb. The premise is very similar to Samuel D. Hunter’s own recent Grangeville (although this was actually written first, I understand) but with some thoughtful additions of COVID-era social stunting. Also, this has Laurie Metcalf, who’s the clear highlight. I had mixed feelings about Micah Stock but landed on this just being a complex character—he does hit the emotional beats pretty well. The couch is a symbol, baby.
