Maybe I’m overthinking it because it’s supposed to be satire. But, like, of what? Celebrity? Are you sure? There are definitely some laughs here, but a lot of it feels like dunking on flat stereotypes. Characters from Tennessee and Kansas City have interchangeable implacable southern accents. Our lead, a country star named “Strings McCrane,” struts around in cowboy hat and boots, too bumbling to recognize when anyone is taking advantage of him, babbling incoherently about conservative politics, with a whole B-plot about trying to seduce his cousin “Essie.” His brother “Duke” is a drunk who sits in his dimly-lit faux-wood-paneled den with a neon beer sign and shouts at the wife and kids.

What are we doing here, guys? Was “Billy Bob” too obvious? Maybe if the show was thoughtful or clever or poignant enough, it could subvert the undignified hick caricatures. But it isn’t, and it doesn’t. 🫤

I dunno. I try to be upbeat about most things I see but this was the rare one that I think I would have rather skipped.
