Summary
Henrik Ibsen’s domestic tragedy follows Mrs. Helen Alving, who attempts to bury the scandalous truth of her late husband’s debauchery by dedicating an orphanage in his honor. Just-fine production of a Great Play(TM). It gives me no pleasure to report that neither nepo baby is particularly convincing, but Lily Rabe and Billy Crudup carry it. A couple lines feel awkwardly translated. The break towards family drama at the end does not especially serve the rest of the morality play.
