A dark comedy about Roger, a middle-aged, divorced man who, after losing his job and feeling adrift in a changing world, falls down an internet rabbit hole and discovers a men’s rights activist named Angry Alan. Seduced by Alan’s online rhetoric about a gynocentric society that oppresses men, Roger finds a new sense of purpose and validation that increasingly alienates him from the women in his life and his estranged son.
John is great in this. Really impressed with the polish for a first preview. I wish that the play itself treated its subject matter with a little more nuance - it’s possible to also think of men as sympathetic people with real problems, I promise - but I think it will generally find a receptive audience.
